Meet in Hales Meadow car park at the south end of Abingdon Bridge. Parking also in Rye Farm Car Park on the opposite side of the road (both 6 hours for £3.80). There is free car parking on Sundays at Cattle Market car park (near Waitrose) or Civic car park.

This will be something different, a town walk led by Roger Thomas, a professional archaeologist and long-time resident of Abingdon. The walk will give a flavour of the archaeology and history of the town, seeing the historic buildings and signs of the abbey’s presence, and taking paths along the waterways around the town and by other green spaces. We will look round the central part of the town before lunch, and do a wider circuit after lunch. We would expect the second part to end around 2.30 to 3.00. Minimum ten people to make worthwhile. Either bring your lunch, or there are several cafes available.
