how to join

Most people come on two or three walks before joining the group officially so there is no problem your just coming on a walk to try the group out and we'd be happy to see you there.

If you decide you wish to continue walking with the group after this though you must join through the Ramblers Association.

For members we also have regular pub nights in various locations, weekends away and plenty of other social activities too... so it is not just walking !

Many people find they can recoup much of their membership cost because RA membership entitles you to discounts on walking gear at a range of retailers. See this page on the RA site for a complete list of benefits.

You can contact the Membership Secretary if you have any questions about membership of our group, or how to join.

after you've joined...

Please visit the member queries page for further information about the group.

joining the Ramblers Association

You can do this online on the RA web site, using the links on this page or we also have good old fashioned printed joining forms too. If using a printed membership form, you can pay by cheque, debit card or direct debit.

Please note:
  • If you are joining online, using a credit or debit card, via the RA web site, choose Oxon Weekend Walkers from the drop-down list of group names.

  • If you are filling out a printed form, be sure you put in the "Group" box
    Oxon Weekend Walkers (OX40).

  • If you are joining by phoning Ramblers' membership office, please make sure you mention the group name (Oxon Weekend Walkers) and group ID (OX40) to assist them in allocating you to the correct group.

  • When your membership card arrives, please check that it shows the correct group name and group ID.

  • It may take a few weeks before we receive information from RA Membership that you've joined. If you email the group Membership Secretary after joining the RA, we can update our records straight away and make sure you're on our group mailing list.
See this page on the RA web site for a complete list of current membership rates: there are reduced rates for direct debit payment and full-time students etc.

existing RA members - transferring to our group

If you are already a Ramblers Association member and want to become part of our group, you just need to let the RA know of your change of group. You can do this via the RA web site here, specifying Oxon Weekend Walkers (OX40) as your new group in the 'query or comments' box: that way, you'll go on all the right postal mailing lists.

It may take a few weeks before we receive information from RA Membership that you've transferred. If you email the group Membership Secretary after asking RA Membership to transfer you, we can update our records straight away and make sure you're on our group mailing list.
