Route Route visits lesser known (but still envy inducing!) Cotswold villages of Cold Aston, Notgrove, Hazleton and Turkdean. Varied terrain - tracks, fields and valleys.

Walk Ardington to the Ridgeway, 7.5 miles

Meeting Point and Parking The grid reference is the entrance to car park in School Lane, Ardington OX12 8PB. From the west the entrance is on your right, before Ardington Craft School. From the east the entrance is on your left, after Ardington Craft School . Follow this lane in and park at the end. I'm sorry but there is no public transport to this walk.

Route Starting in this well kept C19th village the walk takes us across to West Hendred, through the hamlet of Ginge and up onto the Downs. After a short piece of the Ridgeway we descend though attractive rolling countryside to Lockinge. At the end of the walk we can visit the Millennium Sundial. Pub at the end as well.

Route This walk takes us through the villages of Fulbrook, Asthall and Swinbrook, (home of the famous Mitford sisters) and past the historic isolated church of St Oswald in the former village of Widford (abandoned at the time of the black death). Return beside the River Windrush could be muddy.

Route A hilly walk through beautiful countryside, often wooded. We will stop at the Dashwood Arms pub in Piddington half way round. There are several steep hills during the walk.

Route Walk along the canal to Kirklington Quarry and then back to Lower Heyford via Northbrook. Cake will be provided at the picnic site which is with all the Oxfordshire Ramblers

Description

This follows on from where we left off last July and is a spectacular bit of coastline. Whether you were there last year or not, do consider joining the group this time.

The walking will be, to an extent, demanding but certainly rewarding.

Walks are along the Welsh Coast Path S to N:

  • Friday 6th: Aberaeron to Llanrhystud (7 miles)
  • Saturday 7th: Llanrhystud to Aberwystwyth (10 miles)
  • Sunday 8th: Aberwystwyth to Furnace (13 miles)
  • Monday 9th: Furnace to Machynlleth (8 miles)
Places are allotted on a first come first served basis.

Meeting Point and Parking Bourton-on-the-Water. Pay and display Car Parking can be found adjacent to Birdland on Rissington Road (This is NOT the coach car park). Parking costs £6.50 for the day (there are toilets in the car park at a cost of 20p). No Bus or Train available

Route Our walk takes us from the lovely town of Bourton-on-the-Water along the Diamond Way down to Sherborne Common then back up through Great Rissington and Little Rissington. We will stop at the Lamb Inn in Great Rissington about 2/3rd of the way round the route. There is an opportunity at the end to visit the famous Model Village, have a drink at a local pub or tea and scones at a local tea shop.
